What is the minimum age - Cars2Rent Africa?
The minimum age requirement is 23 years and the renter's driver's licence must have been valid for a minimum of 5 years. The renter of the vehicle and all additional driver's must be in possession of a valid unendorsed driver's licence. It is a legal requirement in RSA to be in possession of your driver's licence at all times whilst driving a vehicle.
Will you need to produce your driver's licence?
Yes, you will be expected to produce your valid, unendorsed driver's licence upon collection of your Cars2Rent Africa rental vehicle. Note that it is a legal requirement in RSA to be in possession of your driver's licence at all times whilst driving a vehicle.
What methods of payment does Cars2Rent Africa accept?
Cars2Rent Africa Hire accepts all major credit cards including American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa. We will charge your credit card when you arrive at the rental service desk for collection.
As an added security feature introduced by various international banking institutions, transactions on credit cards issued outside South Africa will not be authorised by the issuing bank if the cardholder fails to inform them of their intention to travel to South Africa and the period concerned.
Must the driver be in possession of his own credit card when picking up the vehicle?
Yes, the name on the credit card must be the name of the driver renting the vehicle.
Does Cars2Rent Africa offer towing services in the event of a breakdown?
Yes, if the rental vehicle breaks down and requires towing, contact Cars2Rent Africa will appoint a towing operator to tow the vehicle to the nearest repairer, at the renter's expense.
Does Experience Car Hire offer winching services?
Yes, if a vehicle becomes stuck, it will be extricated or winched as long as it is adjacent to a passable, established road or thoroughfare and can be safely reached from the hard road surface, at the renter's expense.
What is Collision Damage Waiver?
The optional Collision Damage Waiver offered by Cars2Rent Africa is not an insurance. It is an option that limits renters of the financial responsibility in the event of damage to the rental vehicle and/or any part thereof.
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) reduces the amount of the liability that the renter is responsible for in the event of accident damage.
What is Theft Loss Waiver?
The optional Theft Loss Waiver offered by Cars2Rent Africa is not an insurance. It is an option that limits renters of the financial responsibility in the event of theft of the rental vehicle or part thereof. Personal property is not covered. Theft Loss Waiver (TLW) reduces the amount of the liability that the renter is responsible for in the event of theft.
What is the Additional Driver fee for?
The Additional Driver Fee is for risk and administration related costs for multiple drivers. The fee of R190-00 applies per rental, irrespective of the duration and is applied by most car rental companies.
Why do we pay an Accident Administration Fee?
As the responsibility amount on the waivers only contributes towards the repair costs of the vehicle, an administration fee of R5000.00 per accident will be levied to cover the costs of processing the claim. This includes items such as assessor fees, quote gathering and legal services.
Is there an administration fee for traffic fines received?
There will be a traffic fine administration fee of R300-00 including VAT in the event that the renter may receive a traffic fine whilst renting the Experience Car Hire vehicle.
Why is there a re-fuelling charge if I have free kilometres?
The kilometre charge in car rental relates to maintenance costs. Fuel is a separate cost altogether. Experience Car Hire provides a full tank of fuel and the customer will be charged to re-fuel the vehicle on return.
When is there no charge for re-fuelling?
There is no charge for re-fuelling when the car is brought back to Experience Car Hire with a full tank, or if the rate charged includes fuel.
How is the 24-hour period calculated?
Rates are calculated on a 24-hour period from the time you sign the rental contract until the return of the vehicle. There is a "grace period" of 60 minutes on the final day of return.
What is a One Way Fee?
A one way fee is a set fee charged when a customer collects the vehicle from one location and returns to another. This does not apply to all locations. These charges generally apply when long distances are involved and will be stated at the time of reserving the rental vehicle or when you receive a quote.
How is the Rate of Exchange calculated?
Should an exchange rate be applicable, the exchange rate is applied at the time of return of the vehicle at foreign destinations.
What are the Delivery and Collection Fee charges?
Delivery / Collection of a rental vehicle within 25km:
For deliveries further than a 25km radius an additional charge of R8-00 per km will apply, which is subject to quotation.
